• Annual Banquet

  Annual Chamber banquet and reception prior to the banquet is the premiere membership meeting of the year and is an event to “see and be seen!” It’s known as the oldest and most established Garden City “social” event of the year.   This event, held in November each year, showcases the Chamber’s commitment to supporting quality education in the area. This is a regionally acclaimed, community-wide event and reception prior to the event attended by some 300 educators, faculty and staff honoring outstanding teachers in Finney County as it honors the art of teaching and all its artists. Everyone in Finney County is invited to nominate any teacher deserving of special recognition as a Crystal Apple winner of which only three are named each year with three runners-up. The Crystal Apple award winners represent our region on the state level for state teacher-of-the-year competition and recognition. Applications are mailed to all schools in our community which are screened and interviewed by a Crystal Apple committee of educators before picking three Crystal Apple recipients.

• Golf Tournament-2011

  The Garden City Area Chamber of Commerce Golf Tournament is an annual four-person, shotgun start tournament for members and golf enthusiasts in all of southwest Kansas. Participants and sponsors are served a complimentary lunch with an afternoon tee time. There are team prizes and hole prizes on each hole! This tournament is an enjoyable event every year and continues to grow. With two award winning golf courses in Finney County, the Chamber Tournament alternates between The Golf Club at Southwind and Buffalo Dunes each year.   This packet is handed out to all newcomers to the Garden City Area. Over 900 packets are sent from the Chamber annually.   This is a timely electronic publication the Chamber uses for communication, information and recognition of members. E-News is electronically sent at least once a week, sometimes as many as three times a week to over 700 recipients, all Chamber business people including civic, municipal, state and federal legislators and leaders as well as anyone who requests the service. Recipient’s names may be added to the list by contacting the Chamber or going to the Chamber website at www.gardencitychamber.net.

The website receives 60,000 hits per month on average. The sponsor’s business is promoted through color banner ads with a link to sponsor’s website. The ad can be sent in many forms such as flash or animated giff with consideration given to file size. The ad must be approved by Chamber Staff and cannot be changed more than once per month.

• Ambassadors Club

  The Ambassadors Club is a group of volunteers who have pledged their time, willingness, and talent to “selling” the Chamber. The Ambassadors Club serves as the official representation of the Chamber in welcoming its visitors, attending ribbon cuttings, groundbreakings, grand openings, Breakfasts, and Business After Hours. Members may call on prospective members and renewing members. Members of the club meet monthly to discuss membership recruitment, strategies, and receive updates on other Chamber activities.

• Government Affairs

  Government Affairs is a group of dedicated business and non-profit community leaders who have pledged their time, willingness, and experience to monitor and track legislation and political issues for the Chamber. Government Affairs members monitor and track current events and legislative issues and provide the Chamber with a sounding board representing business interests. On several occasions, the City of Garden City has asked the Chamber through the Government Affairs committee for input in drafting or re-writing city ordinance legislation. Likewise, the Chamber board of directors empowers and encourages the Government Affairs committee to be the legislative “watchdog” for the Chamber. The committee meets monthly to discuss political and legislative issues. In the fall, the committee drafts the following year’s annual Chamber legislative agenda sending it to the Chamber board for final approval.
